StopIRGC consists of a coalition of Canadian lawyers, legal assistants, experts and volunteer coordinators. The team was established on October 12th, 2022, and collaborates with other lawyers and investigators in the United States, Iran, and Europe.
The IRGC (short for “Islamic Revolution Guard Corps”) is a terrorist group acknowledged as such by both the Liberal and Conservative parties of Canada. The IRGC’s primary aim is safeguarding and exporting a fundamentalist interpretation of Islam as espoused by the leaders of the Islamic state in Iran, and through various forms of organized violence, including the violent consolidation of state power in Iran and a takeover of Iran’s finances and economy. The IRGC has threatened and has carried out attacks against women, ethnic minorities, sexual minorities, and opposition activists worldwide since its inception in order to achieve its primary aim.
The mandate of the Stop IRGC coalition is to gather and present evidence to the Canadian authorities and public relating to the presence of the IRGC in Canada, as well as the terrorist and financial activity of the IRGC, its collaborators, and supporters as they occur in Canada. The coalition receives confidential reports, does its own research, assesses evidence, and then drafts reports for the public and the relevant authorities such as Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
