PRESS RELEASE

The Islamic Republic of Iran is falling and all indications point to the overthrow of the regime by the people. We too are as hopeful as ever that this occurs.

Since October 2022, our group StopIRGC, run entirely by volunteers and volunteer lawyers, has researched, verified, and reported members of the Islamic Republic, particularly the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (“IRGC”) and their affiliates, to Canadian authorities. We also report those who are attempting to enter the country. To this date, StopIRGC has reported 93 cases to Canadian authorities, and our work will be continuing into the foreseeable future.

Canada must be vigilant and take steps

If rule of law and safety of Canadians is to be taken seriously, we reiterate that Islamic Republic and IRGC associates belonging to the political and security apparatus of the state must be pursued and prosecuted in Canada.

We now also urge Canada and Canadian law enforcement agencies to be extra vigilant as agents of the falling state attempt to capitalize on Canada, fleeing the aftermath of their downfall.

These individuals fall under Canada’s inadmissibility rules and pose a major safety risk to all Canadians.

We that the following measures be taken immediately:

  • Additional training and resources be provided to all levels of Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on how to properly vet IRGC and regime affiliates. Immigration officers must be aware that these bad actors have access to fabricated documents, including false Identity documents, military exemption cards, and professional credentials, and that a simple check for a military service document will not suffice;
  • Additional training and resources be provided to Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers that screen those entering Canada at airports and other point of entries, so that proper vetting occurs of newcomers. For example, IRGC members and regime affiliates and their families will typically dress and make themselves look like Westerners at ports of entry, making screening based on appearance at the border insufficient.

StopIRGC is available for close assistance to Canadian law makers, policy makers, and law enforcement agencies on this matter. Please visit our website for more information about our group, and how to contact us.
